Theory is defined as “a belief, policy, or procedure proposed or followed as the basis of action.”. Nursing theory is "a creative and rigorous structuring of ideas that project a tentative, purposeful, and systematic view of phenomena". Nursing theories provide the foundational knowledge that enables nurses to care for their patients and guides their actions.

What is the health model theory?

The health belief model is a psychological theory explaining why people do or do not engage in preventative health measures, such as getting tested for a disease, eating healthy and exercising, or using condoms. It has several components that when put together indicate how likely a person is to take a particular action for preventative health.
